WISDOMS
THRU HIKING
• It’s just about proving that I can do something and then going to the next level and seeing if
I can do that. And then hopefully I fail at some point…and I can go back to being normal.
• The challenge is really exciting to see if you can do it cause you’re always…
you don’t know if you can do it again. And then you go do it.
• It sucks to just not have someone to laugh with.
• I say one of the biggest take-aways from this whole thing is my capacity for
suffering is well beyond what I ever thought it was.
• I started thinking of things like physical energy and mental energy. When your physical starts
to get tired, you use a lot more mental energy to maintain. And so I was trying to figure out how
I could limit using my mental energy as much as possible.
• Resilience! You’re gonna get knocked down. You’re gonna have bad days.
You’re gonna feel weak….and what is your response to that? That will define your trip.
• There’s strength that comes from achieving those crazy goals.
Half of your brain might be saying “this is a little too much buddy.”
But you just give it hell and go for it!
• It’s easy to hike on good days. It’s harder to stay focused and do what you need to do when it’s really hard. And so if you can complete those hard days, the easy ones just come.
• Decisions not conditions. Every condition is safe.
Every condition is unsafe depending on what you decide.
• You need to do a wellness check and make sure you’re doing the small
things that you need to care about.
•When you’re having those really rough days, if you can find those little moments where it makes everything worth it. Those little moments for me made it all so worth it.
