WISDOMS
THRU HIKING
• You get to know people on such a deeper level then you would in real life, especially your tramily.
• It just changes really quickly. Your perspective on everything changes really quickly.
You have a lot less distractions out there.
• I think, especially after thru hiking, you learn what’s important to you. You find value in different things and it’s time and relationships and experiences that are more important.
• You have so little on the trail that, I don’t know, that the extra stuff in real life or in civilization
just becomes extra stuff. It honestly becomes more work than it would be.
It’s more work to be in civilization then it is being on trail.
• On the trail you only have to be around the people you like. If you don’t like them, keep hiking.
• As crazy as it sounds, civilization is so much scarier than the woods.
• I think you kinda know who you can trust and who you can’t trust.
• Biggest lesson I think was the importance of things. The thing that I learned the most on trail was what’s important to me. I think it just puts things in perspective.
• I think the biggest thing with hiking is just being flexible. With thru hiking especially.
You can’t plan for it all.
• (The trail) It’s almost like a person. I mean you have your good days where it treats you well and you have your days where it kicks you around.
FOOD
• Cheese was the best part of my day.
