THRU HIKING WISDOMS
THRU HIKING
• That’s partly why I do these lesser known trails because they really reward that kinda “do it yourself”, figure it out ethos.
• When I’m not kinda blindly following a really well beatdown trail, I’m much more…there’s like a background awareness of which way is North. Which is kinda cool, it feels like you’re one of those migratory birds with a magnet in your head.
• I think it gives a much more transformative wilderness experience of allowing yourself to use those mammal/animal senses that we evolved to have. You’re using parts of your brain that don’t get exercised very often in ordinary off trail life.
• You have to just surrender to what’s going to happen.
• You can tell usually when there’s something big around even if you can’t hear it or smell it.
• Smiling within the suck.
